Make It All about Mom Next Week!

For Mother’s Day next Sunday, why not get the whole family together for some creative fun and games? Here are some ways to inject some laughter—and love—into your Mother’s Day celebration.

1 Cook for Mom or set up a brunch date.
Breakfast in bed is always a classic and appreciated! Something simple is fine for this, such as toast or a croissant with jam or fruit and a cup of coffee or tea. Or, if she’s not fond of eating in bed, how about preparing a sit-down brunch?  Or if you are adventurous, plan a special meal at your home embracing every favorite of hers you can think of! Even if that means 6 desserts. Now, if you’re not with mom in person, how about a virtual brunch date? We suggest a classic perfect Champagne Mimosas! You can drop off (or order delivery online!) the ingredients at her door if she’s local or send the recipe in advance to everyone! Then Zoom with the entire family and raise a glass to mom!

How to Make The Perfect Mimosas!

Making a mimosa couldn’t be simpler, as it only requires 2 basic ingredients: chilled sparkling wine (we prefer champagne!) and orange juice. That’s it! For this cocktail, you don’t even need ice. In fact, for the best results, you should avoid using it, as it will dilute and diminish the wine’s carbonation. For a really cold, bubbly cocktail, chill the wine and orange juice the night before you plan to make mimosas.

2. Give mom a long phone call or put on a virtual talent show!
Talk to her (or video chat) and make her laugh. Perhaps throw in some good ‘mom jokes.’ Put on a talent show! It can be simple. Sing a song, show off some gymnastics, play an instrument – get silly and just have fun.

3. Watch a movie or show together, side by side.
If you’re all at home in one place, have a movie that night, complete with theater treats.
If you’re in separate locations, watch the same movie on your computers at the same time. Or start a marathon of your favorite TV series while indulging in a glass of wine or cup of tea.
(Did you know that Netflix also has a way to watch together online? If you and your mom have a Netflix account and Chrome installed on her laptop or desktop, you can watch a movie together! There is even a group chat function for commenting live during the movie from wherever you are in the world.

4. Get outside! Go for a stroll in the park or how about packing mom a picnic?
Fresh air always lifts the spirit. Spring is a wonderful time to visit a park and look for all those lovely spring flowers.
How about packing a simple picnic? If mom’s living nearby, drop off a picnic basket at her front door! Or pack a cooler for a beautiful drive through the countryside.  Take an hour or two and just explore.

5. Make a homemade DIY gift Basket!
Mother’s Day is for showing Mom how much she’s appreciated, and gift baskets / care packages full of goodies are a great way to treat her on her special day! Pre-made gift baskets are nice, but a personalized DIY Mother’s Day gift basket is even better because it’s customized for her, based on what she personally likes. Whether you’re shopping for your mother, grandmother or wife, here are some suggestions on how to build a perfect gift basket that she’ll love because of the extra thought you put into it!

DIY Mothers Day Gift Basket Ideas

1. Start with a Cute Basket
First, start with a cute basket to hold everything in. You can’t go wrong with a traditional wicker/straw one, such as these from Amazon Alternatively, you can use a cute storage basket that she can reuse around the house year-round!

2. Add Her Favorite Food Items & Treats
We all have our favorite food items and surprising her with some of hers would make her day! Does she have a hard-to-find favorite? Track it down and throw it in! Does she have a favorite drink? Get her a fancy version of her favorite brand, or one that she hasn’t tried before! For example, if she enjoys tea, get her the super fancy organic pyramid tea bags from Tea Forte! (it’s delicious!) If she likes chocolate (and who doesn’t?), you can’t go wrong with a fancy Godiva sampler box in a classy gold box, or their special Spring assortment.

3. Add Spa & Self-Care Items
Luxurious spa and/or self-care items are a great way to show Mom that she deserves to be cared for and pampered! Now’s the time to get her that luxury spa item or sampler set that she wouldn’t normally get herself. Safe bets are Jo Malone’s heavenly scented candles or rose scented soap petals for a relaxing bath. You cant go wrong with self care products!

4. Add a “Best Mom” Item
Having an item with “Best Mom Ever” or anything with the word “Mom” on it is almost mandatory for Mother’s Day gift baskets! Here is a cute mug for mom!

5. Don’t Forget the Flowers!!
Fresh cut flowers from the garden would be best, but if that’s not available, there are many beautiful faux options that she’ll also love! Here are a couple great flower delivery companies we love!
-Teleflora
-Urban Stems
-1-800-flowers
