Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about our family and our work that we forget to concentrate on slowing down and enjoying the “moments” in life. We need to realize that when we take a break from the regular routine and focus on enriching our own individual lives, we feel better and contribute more not only to ourselves, but also to others. As a result, we become wiser and better parents, partners, grandparents, and friends.

In that spirit, why not:

Visit a museum or gallery

Read a book

See a play or concert

Explore your city — and for the day pretend you are an out-of-town visitor

Call a friend and go for coffee, or lunch, or a drink

Take a walk or take that exercise class you keep talking about

Try that new restaurant or that new juice bar

Sign up for a class or go to a lecture

Go to the movies

Volunteer

Go to the outdoor market and check out the local produce

Play cards

Treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure

Make an appointment at the spa and get a massage, a facial, a body scrub
