Of course, as grandparents we are always trying to keep peace in the family, but sometimes some of us need some gentile reminders of how we all want and deserve to be treated. We’ve all had those moments when our son-in-law or daughter-in-law or our own grown children just really make us angry, and we want to blow up. Or how about when a family member canceled plans last minute when you had planned something special and you feel so discouraged. But don’t worry, we’re all human! Self-care is exactly what the word says. It’s simply about caring for oneself. In today’s day and age, our lives are so busy, and we are expected to do so much in a short period of time, that often we don’t even consider taking a moment to ourselves. Who are we and how do we want to function? And, because we don’t take the time to think about that, eventually, we burn out. But, sometimes, we can recognize that, and take some time for ourselves. Other times, however, it may lead to more serious circumstances such as mental health illness and depression.
