Why Our Hearts Melt for Our Grandchildren

10 reasons among many!

There’s a special bond between grandparents and grandkids. It’s a relationship based on love, appreciation, fun and pure joy. Becoming a grandparent is one of the most special moments in a person’s life, mainly because of the strength of this bond. It’s really a game changer. And boy oh boy were we not prepared for the amount of times that we would feel our hearts melting from overwhelming love!

We are sure that every grandparent could make a list a mile long of all their favorite grandchildren moments. We have compiled our Top 10 reasons we love being a grandparent! How about you?

1. They make us giggle at the silliest things they do/ say
2. We try food combinations that we never could have imagined
3. We get to go on that ride in the amusement park that we were always dreaming of
4. We watch our grandchildren participate in all their many activities
5. We shop for toys that we would never buy our own children (ha!)
6. They make every single holiday feel so magical
7. We share our common interest with each other and get creative
8. They make us want to live a healthier life
9. We continue to grow together and enjoy every chance we are together!

Please tell us what you love about being a grandparent… in addition to all the hugs and kisses!

Where Do You Wish Your Dreams Will Take You?

Where Do You Wish Your Dreams Will Take You?

a special feature from Kay & Leslie, founders

In our dreams, we will whisk away on a magical hot air balloon, ride over candy-coated mountains and rivers of chocolate. We’ll dance with fairies in moonlit gardens and ride unicorns across rainbow skies. Along the way, we’ll discover secret worlds hidden in the pages of books and make friends with dragons who love to tell tall tales. We’ll be carried to the serene shores of life, walk along sun-kissed beaches hand-in-hand with our grandchildren, their laughter mingling with the sea breeze… building sandcastles and creating memories. It’s a whimsical journey where imagination knows no bounds and every moment is sprinkled with endless possibilities and a bit of fairy dust!

Please tell us where you wish your dreams would lead you…

In Memoriam

I had to say goodbye to a dear friend of mine this week. Someone I loved, laughed with, cried with, worked with and admired. You know her too, Kay Ziplow, a woman of great spirit… She created this website with me, we wrote and kept it going together. She was smart, clever, funny, and gallant in her fight to live, which she lost on Friday.

8 Ways to Keep Peace in the Family

a special feature from Kay Ziplow & Leslie Zinberg, founders

Of course, as grandparents we are always trying to keep peace in the family, but sometimes some of us need some gentile reminders of how we all want and deserve to be treated. We’ve all had those moments when our son-in-law or daughter-in-law or our own grown children just really make us angry, and we want to blow up. Or how about when a family member canceled plans last minute when you had planned something special and you feel so discouraged. But don’t worry, we’re all human! And sometimes we all need reminders on how to keep that peace! Here at GPL we have touched on this topic many times. No one is an expert here- it’s all about trial and error, and taking notice so that the next situation won’t implode.

I love the way my grandchildren view life- totally unfiltered and curious about everything!! My one, the only boy, is 5 and is a never ending chatterbox about life and the way he sees it. He asks questions about anything he’s never seen before and I can only imagine how he stores all that info in his brain! When asked why he asks so many questions, he responded, “I’m just a curious kid!” That you are, Beckett, that you are! And I adore you for it!
