Today is Mother’s Day – a time to recognize, value, and support Mothers everywhere. While some people may have regrets about their own ‘mom relationships’, think about putting all the negative thoughts aside and letting them go. Instead, spend time today and embrace with gratitude the efforts a Mother puts forth in her lifetime. Take this opportunity to turn to your daughter, or daughter-in-law, or your mother or friends, and let them know how truly special and unique they are.
There’s an old saying… ‘Life doesn’t come with a manual…it comes with a mother’ and more often than not, Mothers are hardly giving themselves credit or appreciation for all that they do. This Mother’s Day we’ve come up with 5 ways that you and your family can celebrate and show appreciation for the wonderful daughter or daughter-in-law in your lives.

You know, it’s really unbelievable. My grandchildren think I am the very best cook in the entire world! No matter how I try and demur, they persist using a whole laundry list of flattering adjectives. I remember the time I put together a Strawberry Shortcake, and one of my grand boys declared in a joyous tone with his arms outreached, this cake was, “THE BEST thing I have ever eaten.” What if he was only four or five at the time, and hadn’t experienced too many of life’s culinary delights – so what? !!!! Flattery can go a long, long way.

Years ago my husband’s aunt, Mitzi Tucker, gave me this recipe. She taught me how to make these pretzels with my children. Today my grandkids love making them with me. I keep the ingredients in my pantry and pull them out when we need a fun activity. My grandkids love to choose what types of kisses to use, unwrap them and then decide which color M&M to place on which pretzel. This may seem like a simple task, but they spend a lot of time in the decision making process!

Mother’s Day is for celebrating and giving way to recognize all kinds of moms: young ones, older ones, some with 10 kids, some with just 1; nonetheless, today is a day to celebrate HER! Don’t waste the opportunity.
Ever awakened to someone singing the tune of “Happy Birthday to you….” in your ear before you’ve even wiped the crust from your eyes? And, while the sentiments were totally appreciated, truth be told, you actually were hoping that everyone would just FORGET that it’s your birthday! Right? Well, you are NOT alone! Of course, we know that getting older is inevitable, but, when is it okay to stop celebrating? That stuff is for kids… right?! Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!
The role of being a grandparent is quite possibly one of the best adventures of life! Maybe you’ve longed to be a grandparent and now the time has finally come, or you might already be deep in the trenches. Wherever you are in your journey, it’s always a good idea to step back and explore yourself as a grandparent.
There, I said it- now it’s out in the open for everyone to know. I’m an out of the closet selfish grandma. Yep it’s true, and I am damn proud about it. “What is this you say to yourself?” Well, let me take a moment and fully explain what this is all about.
