Are Winter Blues Really Real?

We all know the long, dark winter days can weigh on you physically and mentally. Grandparents, grand friends, and even parents, listen up… your health and well-being are ever so important and we want you to take care of yourself.  With early sunsets, erratic temperatures, and plenty of changes in the climate, winters can be tough on us mentally and physically. Some of us might struggle from time to time during this particular season, but for others ,it is far worse when suffering from seasonal affective disorder (commonly known as SAD).

The State of Grandparenting

a special feature from Kay Ziplow & Leslie Zinberg, founders

Let’s face it, family dynamics are ever changing, and grandparenting is changing with it…so painting a picture of grandparenting today is a complicated task. For example, on one hand, greater mobility has meant that families are spread across the country and many children aren’t able to see their grandparents as frequently. Life is hectic for all generations and even families who live near each other may not spend much time together. Look at what occurred when we all were in quarantine! Covid has forever impacted every facet of our lives. On the other hand, people are having fewer children and living longer. For most of human history, families looked like a pyramid, with few older members at the top and many young members at the bottom. With fewer family members in each generation, intergenerational relationships can take on added significance.

The Truth About Lies*

Being honest is a characteristic quality that everyone hopes will be displayed by those in their lives, and we especially hope this will be a quality our children will embrace. We are a nation of GRAND grandparents, and you are one of them. Join us. Let’s see what grandparents are up to in 2019. Make a video (no longer than 59 sec), and please post it on Facebook or Instagram, using the hashtag: #grandparentslink2019
